Magma Arizona Railroad
This view is approximately MP22 and looking
southeast. Picketpost Mountain at 4375' is off in the distance. The narrow gauge would have coincided with the auto
road along here.
The corresponding view back to the west. A number of home sites dot the
landscape back by the trestle as the grade crosses Queen Creek. The peak
in the center is most likely Roblas Butte at 3110'.
Just above MP 23, a side road crosses the grade. A steel pipe runs along
the left side with a plastic pipe along the right. The
narrow gauge ran along the right side of the present tracks along here with
the auto road further to the right. I'll need to check to the right of the
crossing sign for indications of a grade the next time out.
The complimentary view looking back towards the west. A spur off of the
SG existed at one time just beyond the bend on the north side of the track.
A little further down the grade and we are starting to get a pretty good
view of Picketpost Mountain.
A companion view back to the west. It looks as though I have managed to
capture the Superstition Mountains famed Weavers Needle on the left.
