This shot was taken from forest road 625 and shows the low line near the Ophir loop. The loop would have been to the left of this shot. A train heading towards the right would be headed back down grade to Vance Junction. The high line is hidden in the trees above the lower grade. From period photos I would estimate that it is probably in the area of the lighter colored aspen trees. On page 146 of "The RGS Story" vol. III is a similar shot taken by Richard Kindig on May 29, 1949. In this shot, RGS 74 is pulling a Rocky Mountain Railroad Club excursion up the grade. If you examine the lines in the rock face near the center of the shot it can be compared to the rock above the last car in Richard's shot. Photo by Dave Dye on June 4, 2005.
