This was the starting point for my short hike near the Gallagher trestles.
I parked on the side of the highway below the grade. The hike up to the grade
was steep and longer than I originally thought. I was out of breath by the
time that I got up onto the grade. This shot is looking north with the highway
cut visible beyond the foreground trees. Hey, who planted that tree right
in the middle of the grade! Photo by Dave Dye on June 4, 2005.
This shot is from about the same point but is looking south as the railroad
goes. As you can see there are still quite a few ties left on the grade but
most of the hardware has long since been removed. Photo by Dave Dye on June
