Kozo K-27 Axle Driven Pump

A few parts to start the construction
of the axle driven pump. The cylinder will form the vertical column of
the pump. The flat brass will be the eccentric strap that connects the
eccentric to the pump plunger. The pin will connect the strap to the
pump plunger. December 18, 2022.

The brass piece is the horizontal
section of the axle pump. The shiny piece is the pump plunger made of
303 stainless that has been polished. December 26, 2022.

These are the three main parts of the
axle pump body that will be soldered together before further machining
can occur. December 27, 2022.

A small bushing that will be used to attach the pump outlet water line which will feed the boiler. December 27, 2022.

The four brass components after
soldering and cleaning up in an acid bath. There will be lots of lath
work to come to machine the three legs and then the small piece behind
the mounting plate will be cut off. December 27, 2022.

The upper fitting will fit at the
bottom of the pump and attach the water supply line. The lower fitting
will cap off the top of the pump to hold in the spring and ball for the
check valve. December 28, 2022.

The 1/16" carbide cutters came in so
the slot in the pump plunger was cut. There is also a cross drilled
hole to attach the eccentric strap. December 30, 2022.

The eccentric strap is still bolted to
the fixture that was mounted in the lathe chuck to bore the hole (about
1.5" diameter). The outer profile will need to be machined next.

The completed eccentric strap for the pump that will be driven off of the eccentric on axle three. January 1, 2023.

All of the legs of the axle driven
pump have been finished to size. Each of them required drilling and
boring operations with two of them having threads. Jan 7, 2023.

The axle pump components prior to
being installed on the K-27. A total of ten individual pieces that had
to be machined. A custom bit was also made to cut the check valve seat
in the top leg of the pump. January 8, 2023.

The axle pump is bolted to the frame
member just behind driver set four and is driven by the eccentric on
