Kozo K-27 Smokebox 16C

A 2 inch x 6 inch brass bar has been chucked up in the lathe to start machining the smokestack. The first boring operation is a 1.1 inch hole through the entire length. Next will be three different inner taper to form the top of the stack which flares out a bit. May 17, 2026.


The three internal tapers were finished yesterday and today I worked on the external shape of the stack. The next step will be to make an arbor to match the internal taper of the stack so that the stack can be flipped around to finish the bottom end. Note that the brass piece at the right end is a tapered cone that is used support the stack with the live center. May 25, 2026.
